SARTA eliminates North Canton Success Express Route 156, Route 157 serving Massillon/Navarre will continue

Canton, Ohio - The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) announced today that Route 156, the North Canton Success Express, will be eliminated effective immediately. The route, which provided early morning service to Cintas, the Hilton Garden Inn, Fannie May, and Special Pack, is being discontinued due to lack of ridership. Alternate trips to those destinations on SARTA’s Fixed Route service may be planned by using SARTA’s myStop app or PinPoint by myStop.
 
The extremely popular Massillon/Navarre Success Express Route 157 will continue to provide transportation to Freshmark, Freshmark Cold Storage, Nickles Bakery, GoJo, Sterilite, and Shearers beginning at 4:55 A.M. Monday through Friday. Detailed schedule information for Route 157 is available at sartaonline.com/schedules, the myStop app, and PinPoint by myStop.
 
“Although we are disappointed that the Route 156 did not take off, the success of the Success Express in Massillon/Navarre demonstrates that the concept of providing transportation tailored to meet the needs of specific employers and employee’s works,” SARTA CEO Kirt Conrad said.
 
Created with input from the Stark Economic Development Board and area businesses, the Success Express enables SARTA to achieve one of its primary goals: connecting people eager to work with employers who want and need to hire them. “When people live here and the jobs are over there the lack of reliable transportation becomes a major barrier to employment,” Mr. Conrad noted. “That’s because people who can’t get to work can’t go to work and those who have jobs and are chronically late or absent because they don’t have a ride won’t have them for long. The popularity of Route 157 clearly proves we’re on the right track.”
 
Mr. Conrad said SARTA will continue to work with the Stark Economic Development Board to identify businesses and/or areas that would benefit from the type of flexible, customized service the Success Express makes possible.
