EZFare Validators are COMING SOON to all SARTA vehicles!

Starting in August (2022), riders will start to see EZFare validators on all SARTA Vehicles. These devices, in addition to the Fareboxes, will allow riders to continue to pay their fare using SARTA’s mobile ticketing app, EZFare.

There will be no changes to purchasing passes or activating them within the app but starting in August, riders will need to use the validators and scan the QR code on their mobile device screen when boarding SARTA vehicles that have Validators installed. See the How-To video below for more!

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1. Download the EZfare App. The app is free to download and is available on Android and Apple. Once your app is open, create an account or sign-in.

Step 2. Pick your Transit Agency. Choose the transit system you wish to travel with (if travelling with Wayne County Transit, select SARTA as your transit agency). You may purchase tickets to more than one transit system by going into each one.

Step 3. Selecting Your Fare. Select “buy tickets” to purchase fares or go into your Ticket Wallet to use tickets/passes that you have already purchased.

Step 4. Purchasing Your Ticket. Select the type of ticket you would like to purchase. Enter your payment information. EZfare currently accepts Debit/Credit Card. You can store payment information to make future payments faster and easier.

Step 5. Using Your Ticket. Go to your “Ticket Wallet” and select the ticket(s) that you want to use. Activate your ticket just prior to boarding the bus. Your phone will become your ticket and you can show it to your driver to get on-board. You DO NOT have to be online to activate your ticket.

Uber

SARTA’s EZFare passes are now available to purchase on the Uber App!  After a rider enters a destination in the Uber app they will see “Transit” as a transportation option. Upon selecting “Transit,” riders will get all the Journey Planning information they need to get to their destination using public transportation including real-time transit data, trip-planning and end-to-end directions.

Buying your transit ticket in the Uber app is also easy – once a rider has selected their route, they can choose to purchase and redeem them using their existing payment profile. Tickets use visual and barcode validation, so entry onto a transit ride can remain touch-free. Once purchased, tickets are stored in the “Transit Tickets” section of the Uber app. Users activate tickets when boarding the bus and can do so even when they are offline (i.e. no cellular connectivity). They then either show the passes to the driver, or scan them using the onboard validation devices.    Transit tickets purchased via Uber will cost the same amount as through existing options, and in combination with Journey Planning, allow you to plan, pay, and navigate all in one app–helping avoid long wait times and lost tickets.

Moovit

Riders can now purchase passes and plan their trips on SARTA all through the Moovit App!  Once a user launches the Moovit app, inputs their destination and selects their transportation route, Moovit will:

  • Display the total cost of the trip: Whether it’s a single bus trip, or transferring lines between multiple EZfare agencies, Moovit will calculate and display the total, and breakdown, fare of the trip
  • Enable in-app ticket purchasing: Users will have the ability to purchase transit tickets directly in the Moovit app, powered by Masabi’s Justride mobile ticketing SDK for public transportation, which means users no longer need to fumble for change or stand in line at transit stations
  • Provide a unique QR code for ticket validation: Moovit will display a digital ticket and QR code, courtesy of Masabi, that can be visually inspected or scanned at onboard validation units currently being deployed across EZfare agencies.
TRANSIT

SARTA’s EZFare passes are now available on Transit App! Once you download the app, open it up to see close-by SARTA Routes and an option to purchase EZFare passes. In order to purchase passes you will need to create an EZFare account, but all passes will be available through Transit.
