SARTA provides approximately 5,000 work rides a day

Our Riders

WHERE DOES SARTA GO?

We operate 32 fixed routes in Alliance, Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Jackson Township, Louisville, Massillon, and North Canton.

We go all over Stark County to grocery stores, shopping centers, medical facilities, restaurants, schools, the airport, libraries, museums, places of employment and much more.  Riders can travel on any of our 32 Fixed Routes in Alliance, Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Jackson Township, Louisville, Massillon, and North Canton.

For riders with ADA recognized disabilities, SARTA operates a countywide service, Proline, that picks riders up at a point of origin and takes them to their desired destination.

DO YOU EVER ASK, WHO RIDES THE BUS?

Our riders are your neighbor, co-workers or the people behind you in line at the grocery store. Our riders are moms, dads, students, retirees and commuters.

HOW IS SARTA FUNDED?

SARTA is funded by a ¼% Sales Tax, Federal Grants, bus fares, contracts with agencies and the State of Ohio. SARTA’s operating expenses are about $22.9 million. About 80% of SARTA’s operating expenses are covered by the sales tax revenue.  SARTA must renew the sales tax every ten years, otherwise, we would not be able to provide quality, reliable transportation to Stark County residents.

  • Sales Tax 61.4% or about $15.2 million
  • Federal 28.9% or about $7.1 million
  • Fares 8.6% or about $2.1 million
  • Ads and other revenue 1.1% or $200,000
