Stark County stuffs the bus to help fight hunger
A SARTA bus traveled to various businesses and organizations Wednesday to pick up food and funds collected for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s annual Harvest for Hunger Campaign.
The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority partnered with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank Wednesday to stuff one of its buses with food and donations from Stark County businesses and organizations.
The bus began its 10-stop trip at 9 a.m. at the SARTA station at 1600 Gateway Blvd. SE in Canton and traveled to area businesses and organizations, such as Nationwide Insurance, Huntington Bank and the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office, before making its way to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank Wednesday afternoon. The donations will support the Foodbank’s annual Harvest for Hunger Campaign.
The Harvest for Hunger Campaign is a partnership between four food banks and focuses on fighting hunger across 21 counties in Northeast Ohio. The campaign represents one of the largest food and funds drives in the country and is the local Foodbank’s largest fundraising campaign, helping to support food distribution all year long.
