SARTA to host public meeting on changes

CANTON The public is invited to attend a meeting outlining the plans for new and revised Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA) transit service and programs.

SARTA officials and representatives of RLS Associates transit consulting firm will unveil the plans at a meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Innovation Center at the Stark County District Library, 715 Market Ave. N.

The changes are expected to impact SARTA’s fixed route and demand response service, as well as other programs, and will be implemented over the next five years as part of a federally mandated update of the Public Transit Coordinated Transportation Plan (PTCTP) for Stark County.

The PTCTP identifies the transportation needs of individuals with disabilities, older adults and people with low incomes, provides strategies for meeting those needs and prioritizes transportation services for funding and implementation. SARTA periodically must update the PTCTP in order to qualify for certain Federal Transit Administration funding.
