Public Transits Offering Free Friday Rides

SUMMIT/STARK— METRO, PARTA and SARTA rapid transit authorities (RTAs) are celebrating summer with free rides on line-service routes only on Fridays in July and August.

METRO is the public bus transportation system serving Summit County, while PARTA serves Portage County and SARTA serves Stark County.

RTA officials said the free fares are applicable on line service routes only, and are not valid on premium services such as METRO’s SCAT, Northcoast Express or Call-A-Bus; on PARTA’s Cleveland Express or Dial-A-Ride Service; or SARTA’s Route 4 to Cleveland or Proline.

Officials added Friday riders can also win prizes from the Ride Patrol.

In addition, METRO RTA is now offering a free Downtown Akron loop Wednesdays through Sundays through October. It starts at the Northside Train Station and passes Akron sites including Lock 3, the Akron Art Museum, Akron Zoo and Mustill Store.
