Days in the Park gets help from SARTA
SARTA bus service has agreed to help during the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival’s Days in the Park.
The public transport service will be pulling one or two buses from their normal routes to assist in transporting people from their cars parked at Alliance Middle School to the park, and back.
“Getting people from point A to point B is important to us, so they can participate in events. It is part of being in the community,” said Christie Petty-Cox, marketing manager of SARTA.
Hitching a ride with SARTA to Days in the Park is free and available to anyone who wishes to use it.
The service will be offered throughout the event, from Wednesday to Saturday, and will run during the hours of the event.
The festival runs 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 8-10, and from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 11.
In past years, US Coach transportation service dropped people off at the top of the hill, making it difficult for those with physical challenges to reach the festivities.
“They will be picking up and dropping off anyone,” said Tom Hines, a member of the festival’s Board of Directors. “SARTA really stepped up to the plate to help us this year, and hopefully for years to come.”
Hines said festival organizers will have a banner on hand that will welcome and thank SARTA for their help.
