Travel Tips
Plan Your Ride
The first step is to figure out where to ride and when.
SARTA schedules are available online, at all Transit Centers, any place SARTA tickets are sold and many community locations.
Schedules should be read from left to right. The top row indicates where the bus will stop and the column below indicates when the bus will be at that stop. Bus stop signs are also located along the route.
You should be aware that it may take more than one bus to get where you need to go. In this case you will need to make a transfer. In order to do this, you will need to locate the schedule at the beginning of your destination and the schedule(s) needed to get through to the end of your stop. When making a transfer, be sure to ask the driver for a transfer ticket so that you are not asked to pay an additional fare. Transfer tickets are good for up to one hour after being issued.
Catching Your Bus
In order to catch your bus on time, make sure to arrive at least 5 minutes before your bus is scheduled to arrive. The sign on the front of the bus will indicate the bus route and destination. Please ensure that it is the one you want before boarding.
SARTA buses feature a farebox that is used at the beginning of the trip to collect payment. Fareboxes accept all forms of payment including tickets, passes and cash. If exact change cannot be provided change will be provided in the form of a change card. For a detailed outline of the SARTA farebox click here to view and print instructions.
