How to Read SARTA Schedules

If you have questions after reading this page, you can contact a Customer Service Representative in one of the ways listed at the bottom of this page.

EXAMPLE:

    •  If you go to the routes page (http://www.sartaonline.com/routes.html) you’ll find the link to the “Route 102 W. Tusc/Massillon”. Or, go directly there by clicking here: http://www.sartaonline.com/102.html (opens in a new window)

    •  If you click on that link you’ll see the Route 102 schedule and down further on the page, the Route 102 map. There are two Transit Centers pictured on the map--the Massillon Zone and the Canton Zone (called Cornerstone). The buses meet up at these places and that’s where you can transfer to another bus.

    •  The schedule lists specific time points. It tells you the time it leaves the Massillon Zone, the time it gets to its next time point (Canton Centre Shelter), and the time it arrives at Cornerstone. (Then the 102 turns around and goes back to Massillon.) All buses going out of Canton Cornerstone are “Outbound”. All buses going into Canton Cornerstone are “Inbound”.

    • T here are individual bus stops all along the route, but the schedule only shows the route’s main time points. You can always contact a Customer Service Representative to ask when the bus will be at a specific intersection or address. But, you can also estimate where the bus will be by knowing the route’s main time points.

    •  For example, let’s say one morning you want to arrive at Cornerstone at 5:40 AM and you’re getting on the bus about halfway between the Massillon Zone and Canton Centre Shelter. You can see on the schedule that the 102 bus leaves the Massillon Zone at 5:00 AM and gets to Canton Centre Shelter at 5:18 AM. So, you can estimate that the 102 bus will be at your location (halfway between Massillon Zone and Canton Centre Shelter) at about 5:09 AM. Of course, it’s best to be at the bus stop sign earlier than your estimated time. Although, being at your bus stop sign earlier than 5:00 AM isn’t necessary since the bus doesn’t leave Massillon until 5:00 AM.

    •  A Note About Scheduled Time Points: These are times that the bus driver must abide by. The driver is not allowed to pass one of these time points before the scheduled time. But, the driver can pass a time point any time after the scheduled time point. This way you can estimate the time by knowing when it leaves its last time point before arriving at the place where you want to get on the bus.

If you have any other comments or questions, please feel free to contact Customer Service again.
